Welcome to the USS Galileo

Welcome to the USS Galileo. A Nova Class vessel in the Obsidian Fleet in Task Force 47: Group A, The Musketeers! If you have any questions you may contact me, Diana Stark, the Commanding Officer of USS Galileo: Click Here.

The year is 2385, the Dominion war is past, the Federation strives to move on to their goals of exploration and discovery. As a survey vessel, Galileo has a unique role in this new era.

Our namesake, Galileo, did many wondrous and dangerous things. He followed what his heart told him to do: never deny what we know to be true. O'course he did get put under house arrest by the Pope. Luckily, nowadays the Pope can only shake a finger at us so we're golden. Maybe.

If you're here it means that you're looking to tell a story. Big guns don't interest you as much as the Federation and Starfleet's mission -- To seek out new life and new civilizations.

Our motto is Inventas vitam iuvat excoluisse per artes which is simply stated as "Let us improve life through science and art." That sums up SIMming on Galileo perfectly and what we ultimately strive to attain--the blending of art and science.

The mission of USS Galileo, while seemingly lacking in austerity and grandeur is about opportunity. Sector Alpha 2178.22, a heretofore un-named and uncatalogued sector that intersects the Alpha and Beta quadrants must be surveyed. While Starfleet has passed through, circumnavigated, and possibly even taken a brief pit stop, no one has been given the dubious distinction of checking every nook and cranny of every rock floating in its huge expanse. Until now.

This could take a while.

Wanted: Assistant positions need filling. Imaginative players of a scientific mind are in need. If you don't care about being chief but want to simply write with excellent award winning people -- join today. If you don't see what you want, email me and we can discuss position options.

Curate ut valeatis,

Captain Diana Stark

We are currently quite full up on the roster. One of our sister ships is commanded by a veteran SIMmer and is taking applications. If you want a challenge and have a bundle of imagination, join USS Hathor

Salvete!

Surprise surprise! Galileo has won the Silver Unit Award for TF47 for the month of October. Push me over with a feather. It was, in part due to the fact that you guys are really rallying back. So - Congrats all around!

We're coming to the climax of our plot so grab the sheets and bite the pillow it's gonna be a doozy. Be around to write or we will write around or over you. It's the nature of the beast, when the final crashing of all plots come together we need to be in TIGHT coordination. You should have some idea of what your role is and if you don't, PM me.

Will Jenaria stay joined? Will she stay aboard the Galileo? Either way, the player is stepping down from XO to let some new blood up. The new XO stepping into the chair IS chosen, but... we won't reveal that person yet!

Our next mission is in planning stages, in the meantime while we wait...sing along with me!

III Mission Summary Report

=.\= Location: In Paulinus Sector Orbiting Planet Cestagna =.\=

=.\= Ship Status: Blue =.\=

This week on Star Trek: Galileo

Reporting: Stark

Mission briefing:

Captain Stark receives orders to leave her mapping once again behind and head to the Paulinus Sector to aid a crew of scientists at an orbiting science station.

The station is observing a pre-industrial era world in, what would appear to be, an era akin to the era of exploration. Large masted vessels sail the seas manned by navys and merchants as well as bucaneers hired by sly nation leaders to hide their double dealing in the spice trades. A scientist from among their group was sent to collect data and samples and has not been heard from orther than his parting words of, "It's a simpler life... Oh! I long for the sea" before what sounded like his tossing his communicator into the drink -- there was a distinct splash. We are to attempt locating this errant scientist and bring him back to justice before he contaminates the development of this humanoid species.

So far in our story...

This week(ish) on Starship Galileo...

Diana, Kitrin and Alex moved a worm from Zorn Boal to now Jenaria Boal.
We said farewell to a dead colleague and friend Zorn Boal (and met the former hosts).
We're still missing folks - T'Lin got kidnapped but we got Windsor back (injured).
Stella sent probes to find Emarnie who's been found by a merman but not by us yet.
We got something to ACTUALLY WORK on the Hawkeye.

Looka me, I'm alive! Hallelujah.

House situation: Everything should be done by the end of the month. The floors will be laid by Nov 30. I knew this would take a long time, I'm happy it'll be done soon. I'm not so happy about the $1200 out of pocket I had to pay for the electrical and the $700 for the plumbing (as long as I had no walls, I did some rearrainging and fixing of things -- it's a 100+ year old house) not to mention the $1K deductible. Sixty gallons of water escaped my toilet tank -- twice in three days. I'm happy to recover now.

You may have heard a few things in the rumour grist so I wanted to straighten them out for you right off.

I've resigned as TGCO of 47A so my rank is now back to plain ole Captain. I'm very glad I never got the promotion IC -- at least I hope I didn't. ANYWAY... just plain Cap'n Stark from henceforth. We'll continue to use SB67 as our base point and Vice Admiral Polydorus as our regional CO though IC we'll recognize that the overall Task Force leadership that we report to is still Rear Admiral Conrad. I chose to resign because of several reasons but mostly because I don't have time for it right now. It was either resign everything and close Galileo or resign TGCO and get us back on track.

I chose the latter because you are all treasures.

Now my shining jewels, I need your help. There is still a lot of plot to finish. I'd like to see everyone get back involved in their ends of the plot. If you are unsure of what comes next, PM me. Our Chief of Science and I want you to contact us for JPs of any sort. Also, I cannae remember bupkis right now so a debrief would be great if you can shoot me a few lines as to where you are and what you've done.

I don't want to break up the band but I might have to Yoko the crew here and start cutting if I get no PMs or emails from you. There are some of you that are keeping busy on other ships. GREAT! All I ask is that you begin to balance Galileo back into your writing again. I ask for you to write me asap, but the fleet law says I cannot cut non-responsive players for seven days from notice. This is official notice.

I'll be starting up a hoard of JPs again and we'll be back on track with a mission report tomorrow. I know it's a lot to ask, please PM me when you get this message. I miss you all.

XO’s Address

Salvete!

Welcome back to another week on Galileo.

Just a quick update to let you guys know what's going on. As you probably already know, Jayne is having house problems with lots of water. She'll be in limited contact for the time being so if there's something you need sim-wise, just drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

As far as things on the Gali go, we should be concentrating on moving ahead with the plot lines you have going now. No need to become stagnate waiting for things to happen. Take control and make them happen! That means mer-peeps need to be addressed and ships need to be finding things. Let's get to it!

Ludicrous Speed

Crew,

My house is a floody horrible mess. The toilet has overflowed twice in three days. I am losing my mind living inside a jet engine. When you have to shout to hear yourself, it's loud. There are tubes sticking into walls pumping air into the walls of my 103 year old lovely old house. There are mats on the floors with tubes sticking out of them sucking water out of my hardwood floors. Pistachio House is being assimilated by the Borg.

My husband and I are looking for an alternative place to live while they... demo (yes, that is demolish) portions of my kitchen and bathroom.

I will be on LOA but checking mail. I leave you in the capable hands of Gnoswal aka Lt Commander Jenaria Leick. IC I need some help. OOC, Gnos is up to the task.

This is when I need you all to stick by and keep the course.

Please, carry on with this mission, if you have not accomplished this week's goals, do them. If you are the head of an away mission and don't know what to do next, coordinate with Gnos. If it doesn't make sense, fudge over it and hold your nose. It'll all fit in the end.

I will be checking mail, but again, this is not my priority right now. Life has to take the front seat.

For those of you who are confused. Send me a direct email (or PM) but don't expect immediate response.

This is not "a crisis" this is now "a ludicrous"
